The in-person tradeshow had been cancelled due to the pandemic which left the team behind Cornish homeware brand Liga at a loss. They needed a video to upload to the virtual tradeshow that had been put on in its place. The tradeshow is a pivotal event in Liga’s sales calendar and so it was vital that they had an asset that worked in presenting the products, family and ethos as if they were there themselves. Potential wholesale buyers would be watching and Liga needed to be able to encourage them to place orders based on the video and supporting materials.
Liga approached us and we set about learning about their business and product range so that we could plan out an effective video.
We knew this video would be longer than our usual recommended length – however as this video’s purpose was an online tradeshow video then the viewers were watching out of choice – the rules for capturing the attention of social scrollers do not apply here. However it was still important (maybe more so) that the video remained engaging throughout as we needed the buyers to reach the end and see the call to action.
How did we do this? With great storytelling.
Effective storytelling is the only way to keep viewers entertained in a longer-form video. In our pre-production process we honed in the key sections of the video and used storyboarding and structure to decide how each component would flow into the next.
We then filmed across two days across four locations and captured the true story of Liga – from their HQ in Royal Kenwin Yard to case studies at The Great Cornish Food Store and Trebah Gardens.
